Nantes raced into a three-goal lead before the break through Randal Kolo Muani (4'), Quentin Merlin (16') and a Ludovic Blas penalty (45'). Neymar pulled one back for the leaders (47') but the Brazilian had a penalty saved on the hour mark as Nantes claimed a deserved three points.

"It was a pleasure to see my team play this way,'' said Nantes coach Antoine Kombouaré after leading his team to two victories from three games against PSG since arriving at La Beaujoire one year ago. "This was what we wanted to see from the players and given where we are in the table, we could not set ourselves up to just defend throughout the game."

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed his disappointment at PSG's Champions League hangover following the defeat at Nantes. "We're really upset, we're disappointed with the result because we didn't play badly. In fact, there were many positives,'' Pochettino added. "We lost the game because of a few moments where they were very clinical in front of goal. We were made to pay for that."

Bayo strike stuns Velodrome

Mohamed Bayo's stunning first-half strike helped Clermont claim a 2-0 win over Marseille at the Orange Velodrome.

Bayo struck the opener in the 13th minute before Jim Allevinah headed a second, six minutes from time to put daylight between Clermont and the remaining five teams in the relegation scrap.

Marseille remain in second place, 13 points behind leaders PSG.

"We lacked humility, we didn't show the best side of us, we didn't show value, we didn't show anything,'' said a frustrated Marseille forward Dimitri Payet. "We were given a lesson by a Clermont team that played together, worked hard for each other and deserved this victory. Now we have to deflate our heads a little, get back to work and show our true face."

Narrow win for Nice

Nice closed the gap on second-placed Marseille to one point after a 1-0 victory over Angers at the Allianz Riviera.

Justin Kluivert's cheeky angled finish (19') was enough to hand Christophe Galtier's men maximum points in the race for Champions League qualification next season. Meanwhile, Angers slipped to their fourth straight league defeat.

"I'm happy with the performance of the team and what the players were able to put into this match," said Galtier who saw his side bounce back after two-consecutive league defeats. "We had an obligation to win to remain competitive and I was convinced that to win this game, we had to really impose ourselves on it. I think we did that quite well."

Honours even at Lens

Lyon had Tino Kadewere to thank as they came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at Lens.

Jonathan Clauss fired Lens ahead (13') before Kadewere gave Lyon a deserved equaliser on the stroke of half time, to earn a point for Les Gones.

Points shared at Saint-Etienne

Saint-Etienne came from behind to earn a point in a frantic 2-2 draw with high-flying Strasbourg at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Ryad Boudebouz fired the hosts ahead in the 4th minute but a quickfire double from Habib Diallo (21') and Lucas Perrin (30') put Julien Stéphan's men in the ascendancy. Wahbi Khazri quickly tapped home an equaliser for Les Verts (34') who climbed up to 16th on the table, whilst Strasbourg remained in fourth place.

Positive start for Guion

New Bordeaux coach David Guion saw his side draw 1-1 with Monaco in an entertaining clash at the Matmut Atlantique.

Bordeaux went ahead through Rémi Oudin (22') and the hosts were helped further when Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni was dismissed ten-minutes before the interval for a second-bookable offence.

Monaco benefitted from a huge slice of luck to grab their equaliser when the ball ricocheted off Bordeaux defender Marcelo and sailed past 'keeper Gaëtan Poussin (67').

Easy pickings for Rennes

Rennes made it four home wins on the spin after a comfortable 4-1 win over Troyes at Roazhon Park.

Goals from Sehrou Guirassy (14' & 20'), Martin Terrier (75') and a Gaëtan Laborde penalty three-minutes from time ensured Rennes stayed in fifth place and hot on the heels of Strasbourg in the race for European qualification. Ike Ugbo headed the visitors' solitary goal (39').
