Captain Marquinhos to the rescue

Paris Saint-Germain had two-goal hero Marquinhos to thank as they came from behind to beat Saint-Etienne 3-1 in Arctic conditions at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Marquinhos headed PSG level on the stroke of half time following the dismissal of Les Verts' Timothée Kolodziejczak, cancelling out Denis Bouanga's 23rd minute opener for the hosts.

Despite a spirited display, Claude Puel's men succumbed to Parisian pressure and two late goals from Angel Di Maria (79') and a second of the game from Marquinhos (90') saw PSG over the line.

Lirola wins it for Marseille

A Pol Lirola goal 16 minutes from time gave Marseille a much-needed 1-0 victory over Troyes at the Orange Vélodrome.

Lirola beat the offside trap to slot home, ensuring that OM scored their first goal and won their first home league game since mid-October. Marseille stay in fourth place on the table, whilst Troyes sit one place above the bottom three in 17th.

Metz claim Nice scalp

Metz claimed just their second league win of the season after an excellent 1-0 win at Christophe Galtier's Nice.

Fabien Centonze fired home Nicolas de Préville's cross (31') to score the only goal of the game and give the visitors a much-needed boost in their bid to avoid the drop.

Lens and Angers share spoils

Romain Thomas' 70th minute header ensured Angers came from behind to draw 2-2 with Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Sofiane Boufal had put the visitors ahead (40') but Lens hit back early in the second half through Gaël Kakuta (48') and Florian Sotoca (55') to take control of the clash. But Thomas had the final say, heading home Angelo Fulgini’s cross to earn Gérald Baticle's men a deserved point.
