PSG cruise at Clermont

Paris Saint-Germain began their title defence with an emphatic 5-0 win at Clermont.

Neymar opened the scoring (9') before Achraf Hakimi (26') and Marquinhos added to the visitors' tally (36'). Lionel Messi netted PSG's fourth (80') but the Argentine left the best until last, with a sumptuous overhead kick (86') to seal three points.

Diatta magic lifts Monaco

A superb volley from Krépin Diatta set Monaco on their way to a 2-1 win at Strasbourg.

The Senegalese winger fired home two-minutes before the interval to put the visitors ahead. Sofiane Diop added a second for Les Monégasques (53') before Habib Diallo reduced the arrears for Strasbourg (65').

"My players were ready and we started preparing early to be ready," said Monaco coach who now turns his attention to the crunch Champions League qualification clash at PSV Eindhoven in midweek. Marseille kick off Tudor era in style

Marseille gave new coach Igor Tudor a debut to remember as his side beat Reims 4-1 at the Orange Velodrome.

A Wout Faes own-goal (13') set OM on their way before loanee Nuno Tavares added another on the stroke of half time. Colombian striker Luis Suarez scored twice on his league debut (75' & 90') to finish off the visitors who pulled one back through Folarin Balogun (84').

Lyon edge past Ajaccio

Peter Bosz's Lyon kicked off the season with a 2-1 win over new-boys Ajaccio at the Groupama Stadium.

Tête (12') fired the hosts in front before returning hero Alexandre Lacazette added a second from the penalty spot ten minutes later. Debutant Thomas Mangani pulled one back for the Corsican's with a penalty of his own (31') in a game that saw both OL 'keeper Anthony Lopez and Ajaccio forward Romain Hamouma dismissed in the first half.

Lorient stun Rennes

Lorient produced arguably the shock of the weekend as they toppled Rennes 1-0 at Roazhon Park.

Rennes' new Belgian defender Arthur Theate inadvertently sliced an effort past 'keeper Steve Mandanda (66') to gift Lorient maximum points.

Ruthless LOSC down Auxerre

LOSC got the Paulo Fonseca era underway in fine fashion as they thrashed Auxerre 4-1 at the Decathlon Arena-Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Benjamin André fired Les Dogues in front inside the opening minute before Jonathan David added a second two-minutes later. The Canadian striker scored LOSC's third six-minutes before the break and debutant Akim Zedadka completed the rout (64').

Gaëtan Charbonnier pulled one back for the newly-promoted side (68').

Ramsey denies Toulouse late on

A superb equaliser from new signing Aaron Ramsey salvaged a point for Nice in a 1-1 draw at Toulouse.

Ligue 1 new-boys Toulouse took the lead through Thijs Dallinga (20') but just when it looked as though they would hold on to claim maximum points, Ramsey fired into the top corner (78') to grab a point for Les Aiglons.

Sotoca hat-trick lifts Lens

A Florian Sotoca triple fired Lens to three points after a 3-2 win at home to Brest.

Sotoca struck three times (28', 62 & 65') - and even managed to miss a first-half penalty - to give Les Sang et Or the best possible start to the campaign. A Kevin Danso own-goal (66') and Romain Del Castillo (82') reduced the arrears for Brest late on.

RC LENS - STADE BRESTOIS 29 (3-2) / Highlights (RCL - SB29) 2022/2023

Montpellier edge thriller

Montpellier struck late to earn a 3-2 victory against Troyes at the Stade de la Mosson.

Goals from Théo Sainte-Luce (3') and Téji Savanier (15') for the hosts were wiped out by strikes from Florian Tardieu (12') and Mama Balde (17'), in a frantic opening. But Savanier settled matters nine-minutes from time to give Montpellier maximum points.
