Almost a month separating the last match to the next, with international fixtures in between. The Rossonere's return to action is drawing nearer, with eight Championship Round games in store. These matches will determine where our women's side will finish in the top five. Realistically, it'll be difficult to catch third-place Roma, who have ten more points than us in the table, but fourth-place Fiorentina, who we trail by three points, are within reach.
And AC Milan's first match in the Championship Round will be away to the Viola at 18:00 CET on Sunday 2 March. It represents the perfect opportunity to kick off the second phase of the season on the right foot and gain a bit of revenge following our Coppa Italia elimination to Fiorentina. Our girls finished the regular season with a heavy defeat to Juventus, and now a strong response is needed to bounce back in the right way.
Previously, the Rossonere managed to close the gap on Como by going four unbeaten after losing to Lazio in Rome. This season, there have been times when Coach Bakker's side have had to show character and desire to turn things around. Clear examples include the comebacks against Fiorentina and Samp (from 0-2 to 2-2) and, most notably, the successful turnaround against Roma (from 1-2 to 3-2) - the team's most prestigious result in recent months.
Now, this young group is aiming for consistency. Constant development is a step in the right direction for many girls, who were key figures for the Primavera last season and are now part of the first-team setup. Trust is being placed in this group, which undoubtedly has real potential for growth and is capable of significant achievements. Fiorentina v AC Milan provides an opportunity to show that.
