Rosenborg starlet Edvard Tagseth admits Liverpool tried everything to convince him to stay.

The Norwegian was part of Liverpool's youth team and was being offered pro terms in 2019 before he chose to leave England and return to Norway with RBK.

His father, Tore, had taken over his career management from Jim Solbakken and recalled to VG: "From Wednesday to Saturday I received four or five calls from Liverpool. Then suddenly all our demands for well-being were in place: Housing with guest rooms closer to the city, an apartment with a partner, travel budget for both family and Norwegian friends, in addition to a sporting program on the U23 team."

Tore also stated the salary on the table was beyond most senior wage packets in Norway.

After three days of dialogue with Liverpool, he had to convey the offer to his son.

Edvard revealed: "Dad came into my room and told me what they would do to get me back. I was shaken and shocked. I did not expect them to try again."

However, after several days of consideration, Edvard chose to return home and sign with RBK.

He explained, "I just think it felt so right to go to RBK when I had been there and trained and had it so good. Almost no matter what kind of offer I had received, it was 100 percent safe in my head."

Tagseth moved to Liverpool at 16 years of age, having been spotted playing for local outfit Neset. With the Reds he spent two years before leaving for Rosenborg. Now 20, Tagseth is a first-choice player with RBK and also a member of Norway's U21 squad.
