Rosella Sensi hits out after Udinese-Roma scheduling: “The institutions never help Roma.” | OneFootball

Former Roma president Rosella Sensi weighed-in on Serie A’s controversial scheduling decision for the Giallorossi’s suspended match against Udinese.

Earlier today, Lega Serie A announced the remaining 18 minutes of Udinese-Roma would be played on April 25th—a move that angered the capital club given the game’s proximity to their Europa League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen on May 2nd.

“Roma has never been helped by football institutions,” Sensi wrote on Instagram.

“And once again, Italian football has shown that it does not want to protect the interests of one of its clubs, but rather hinder it. The additional fifth Champions League place is also due to Roma’s excellent performances in Europe, but no one seems to care about that.”

She continued, “There is no forward-thinking approach, and an opportunity for growth in the sports movement has been lost. The Lega decided not to postpone the rescheduling to May, probably because [Evan] Ndicka is doing okay now—which I’m clearly happy about.”

“Perhaps they’re downplaying an event that had the potential to end in tragedy. Instead of appreciating what the players, coaches, referee, and supporters showed in Udine, they chose the opposite. A ton of things need to change within the Lega, but clearly there’s no will to do this.”

Finally, “Once again, another opportunity has been lost to safeguard Roma, we’re used to it by now. Now we have to show that we’re stronger than all of this. The club did well to speak up, and now it’s up to the team to overcome this obstacle.”
