On Champions League excitement

“We’ve advanced in the DFB-Pokal, in the Bundesliga we have started well and now it is time for the Champions League.

“The boys really put the foot on the gas last season to get here and now we want to write our own story in the competition.

“We know it won’t be easy tomorrow, playing in one of the loudest stadiums in Europe. They defend aggressively and are strong in attack.”

“He’s an outstanding player but there’s still a lot more potential from him.

“We should also remember that he is still young and he can still gain experience at the absolutely top level.”

On Roman Bürki

“This question has came out of the blue. Gregor Kobel is our No. 1 and Marwin Hitz is the No. 2. We decided on what makes sense for us.

“Roman has been working excellently back home. He’d like to play of course but my hat goes off to how they compliment each other.

“We appreciate him and so do all the boys. A lot of things can happen and we may still need him.”

Bürki was left out of the travelling squad, with Luca Unbehaun flying to Istanbul instead

“We aren’t happy about it at all but we’ve done our video analysis. The boys aren’t doing this on purpose.

“We will keep working consistently on it. Like Marco [Reus] said, we’d rather win 3-0 than 4-3 but we’ll face up to it.”
