Rory Finneran finally confirmed as Newcastle United signing | OneFootball

Back in late July, it was widely reported that Newcastle United had beaten off competition from Manchester United and Liverpool for the signature of Blackburn Rovers Rory Finneran.

However, despite the media reports/claims, I didn’t see anything official from Newcastle United in terms of confirming it, until now that is.

Along with all the other Premier League clubs, Newcastle have had to announce their official 25 man senior Premier League squad.

This has now been revealed, that 25 man senior squad getting released, along with the NUFC Under 21 players, amongst that latter list it includes 16 year old Rory Finneran (see both lists below).

On the 6th of January 2024 Rory became Blackburn’s youngest ever debutant, in a 3rd Round FA Cup tie against Cambridge United (aged 15 years, 10 months and 8 days).

He is a left sided defensive midfielder and Republic of Ireland youth international. Rory is also a leap year baby, born on 29th February 2008.

Lets hope he can come on in leaps and bounds and earn a squad place.

The signings the of the likes of young stand out talent like Rory Finneran and Alfie Harrison excite me and give me hope for our long term future. They could also save and make the club a fortune.

Watch out for Harrison this season. My mate Coatsey from Holywell reckons he’s brilliant and going to be knocking on the door of the first team soon.
