Everton will clash heads with Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Toffees suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last weekend which has drained their confidence ahead of this game versus the Bees.

Rafael Benitez will have a real selection headache in his hands as some of his first-team members won’t be available for this clash due to injuries. The Spanish head coach will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could name Salomon Rondon as his centre-forward up top.

Defence

Jordan Pickford will operate in goal for the Merseyside club after he shipped in three goals in his last league outing. Ben Godfrey will resume his centre-half partnership with Michael Keane as the defensive duo try to keep the Brentford attackers at bay during the 90 minutes.

Seamus Coleman is expected to fill in at right-back while Lucas Digne looks to catch the eye from the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack as they cannot allow the opposition to get in behind them out on the wide areas.

Mason Holgate won’t be available for this game due to suspension.

Midfield

Benitez could opt for a midfield three of Allan, Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend. Their main focus would be to retain possession with conviction at the centre of the park and try to create some decent goal-scoring chances for their teammates up top.

Tom Davies, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andre Gomes will all be sidelined for this game because of injuries. Jean-Philippe Gbamin should be fit to start on the Everton bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the second half if needed.

Attack

Alex Iwobi could get the nod to start on the left flank while Anthony Gordon earns another chance to impress as the right-sided winger. Salomon Rondon is expected to lead the line for the Toffees down the middle as Richarlison won’t be available for selection because he is suspended. Furthermore, Benitez will be sweating on the fitness of Demarai Gray, who is a major doubt for this game.
