Cristiano Ronaldo marked his second Manchester United debut in style on Saturday afternoon.

The 36-year-old, who returned to the Red Devils at the end of the summer transfer window after 12 years away from Old Trafford, inspired United to a 4-1 victory over Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time with a close-range finish before Javier Manquillo equalised for the visitors in the 56th minute.

Ronaldo restored United’s one-goal advantage on the hour-mark before late strikes from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard added gloss to the scoreline.

It was the perfect start to his second Man Utd spell for Ronaldo, who has rejoined the Red Devils with the intention of winning major team and individual honours.

Ronaldo had to ban his mother from watching big games

The five-time Ballon d’Or previously said that he’d banned his mother, Dolores, from watching him in big matches because she gets so anxious.

"She's not allowed now to watch big games,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan.

"I say, 'Listen, I don't have a father any more. I don't want to lose my mum, too, so you're not going to watch quarter finals, semi-finals, or finals."

He previously told Morgan in an earlier interview, per The Sun: "She gets so nervous, I don’t understand why. She is not allowed now to watch big games.

"I get friends to stay with her and she goes for walks around the house. She fainted two times in the stadium. She is nervous."
