Patrice Evra will always be highly thought of at Manchester United.

The Frenchman joined the club in 2006 and went on to enjoy a successful eight-year spell.

He played 379 times for the Red Devils, scoring 10 times, and helped them to 14 trophies.

Evra departed the Premier League giants in 2014 and is still very passionate about the club today.

The 41-year-old follows his former club closely and often speaks out about proceedings at the club on his social media channels.

He has now picked between United players both past and present in an Instagram video.

Evra is known for speaking his mind and he did not hold back when comparing some of the players.

Edwin van der Sar vs David de Gea

This was tough for Evra as both have cemented themselves in history as top goalkeepers. The Frenchman also played alongside both players during his time at the club.

“Guys we don’t start softly. This is tough! Edwin was the main man. When David came, he struggled and after you know, when Edwin left, David was the number one and won four time Player of the Year…”

After some debate, Evra went with Van der Sar.

Rio Ferdinand vs Raphael Varane

Evra played with Ferdinand at United and with Varane with France.

“I remember I came back [from France duty] and told Rio: ‘We found a younger version of yourself. Tall but very fast…’

“What I love about Rio is he could finish the game and his shirt and shorts will still look clean. He will always get the ball. He plays from the back. Technically he’s very good. Ferdinand without any hesitation.”

Nemanja Vidic vs Harry Maguire

It didn’t take long for Evra to choose Vidic over Maguire.

“No Vidic. The soldier. He will put his head when you are even scared to put your foot. This isn’t even a question.”

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Marcus Rashford

Evra was offended after seeing Ronaldo and Rashford pop up on his scree.

“You can’t compare. This is disrespectful,” Evra said, before siding with Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo then vs Cristiano Ronaldo now

Evra’s analysis of the Ronaldo from the 2000s to present day Ronaldo was fascinating.

“They are both different players. You need both of them.

“I think people don’t understand Cristiano. He doesn’t have the same speed, even though he’s still fast, but he scores goals. He’s 37. he scored 18 goals last year.

“I wish if I am a manager I’ve got both of them and trust me, the one now, the one in the past, they are the best player of all time. The story of football.

“This is a tough one. I will say the old Ronaldo, because the tricks and stuff is more like fun. But if I want to win and a goal machine, I will choose present Ronaldo.”
