Cristiano Ronaldo made his feeling towards Gary Neville well and truly known over the weekend.

Ahead of their Premier League clash with West Ham, the Manchester United superstar snubbed the now Sky Sports pundit while greeting other members of the panel on the Old Trafford pitch.

The footage of the incident quickly blew up on the internet, with Jamie Carragher piling in to poke fun at his colleague.

Carragher was given the same treatment in August after criticising Ronaldo on air so will know exactly how Neville feels.

The blanking seems to be as a result of this season.

Neville did not pull his punches, supporting manager Erik ten Hag and calling for Ronaldo to leave the club after months of tension between himself at the Manchester giants.

And it seems Ronaldo did not take too kindly to those comments, warmly greeting Louis Saha and Jamie Redknapp before sprinting off to join his teammates warming up.

It does feel like odd behaviour from a global superstar who has just about achieved everything there is to achieve in a game, but perhaps it is the history that Neville and Ronaldo share that made the criticism telling.

As teammates, Ronaldo and Neville were close friends, with Neville doing everything he could to help the young Portuguese star adapt to life in the Premier League.

After Sunday’s snubbing, footage of Neville helping Ronaldo out in an interview re-emerged and it shows just how much things have changed.

Ronaldo, humble, incredibly shy, and struggling with a new language, was given a helping hand by his senior colleague.

You can see the wholesome footage in the clip below:

Just look at the difference.

Of course, a lot of water has passed under the proverbial bridge since those days and that shy, softly spoken teenager is certainly a thing of the past.

He has since won himself five Ballon d’Or titles to go with his five Champions League winners medals – to name but a few of his honours.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and it is obvious to all that his days at United are numbered.

There is every possibility that Ronaldo could leave the club in January in search of more playing time and, perhaps, a league where the pundits are kinder.
