Cristiano Ronaldo is now 37 years of age and still going strong.
Friday evening was far from his best as a footballer, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner missing a penalty as Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup against Championship side Middlesbrough.
But everyone has their off nights and there’s no shirking away from the fact that Ronaldo is still one of the best in the business at an age where most other footballers are sat on the sofa with their feet up.
The Portugal international has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, including six in just five Champions League games.
Due to the fact he’s still a magnificent player, Ronaldo remains one of the most valuable footballers on the planet aged 32 or over.
Over on Transfermarkt, the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker is worth £31.50 million, which is more than 29-year-old teammate Jesse Lingard.
Below, we’ve provided the 20 most valuable players aged 32 or over, with Ronaldo in third place…
20. Luis Suarez, 35 (Atletico Madrid) – £9.0 million
19. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 33 (AS Roma) – £9.0 million
18. Keylor Navas, 35 (Paris Saint-Germain) – £9.0 million
17. Juan Cuadrado, 33 (Juventus) – £9.0 million
16. Grzegorz Krychowiak, 32 (Krasnodar) – £9.9 million
15. Cesar Azpilicueta, 32 (Chelsea) – £9.9 million
14. Jordi Alba, 32 (Barcelona) – £10.8 million
13. Ander Herrera, 32 (Paris Saint-Germain) – £10.8 million
12. Marco Reus, 32 (Borussia Dortmund) – £11.7 million
11. Idrissa Gana Gueye, 32 (Paris Saint-Germain) – £11.7 million
10. Manuel Neuer, 35 (Bayern Munich) – £12.6 million
9. Dusan Tadic, 33 (Ajax) – £13.5 million
8. Angel Di Maria, 33 (Paris Saint-Germain) – £13.5 million
7. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 32 (Barcelona) – £13.5 million
6. Karim Benzema, 34 (Real Madrid) – £22.5 million
5. Toni Kroos, 32 (Real Madrid) – £22.5 million
4. Thomas Muller, 32 (Bayern Munich) – £22.5 million
3. Cristiano Ronaldo, 37 (Manchester United) – £31.5 million
2. Robert Lewandowski, 33 (Bayern Munich) – £45.0 million
1. Lionel Messi, 34 (Paris Saint-Germain) – £54.0 million
Only Messi and Lewandowski in the 32 or over bracket are worth more than Ronaldo – which is quite something.
The 37-year-old superstar will likely continue playing at the very highest level into his 40s if he can avoid serious injury.
He’ll probably still be worth around £20 million as well…
