His side risked falling further behind in the title race after being pulled level by their hosts with just 11 minutes remaining on Friday.

But when Alfa Semedo handled Anderson Talisca’s header in the penalty area during the game’s closing stages, there was only set to be one outcome.

Ronaldo’s stuttered 87th minute penalty gave Al-Nassr a priceless win in their bid to keep pace in the Pro League title race and extended his own streak.

The Portugal captain has now scored 10 goals in his previous seven domestic outings for the Knights of Najd, who sit a point behind leaders Al-Ittihad.
