Juventus gave their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League a shot in the arm with victory at Sassuolo on Wednesday.
Scorers: Raspadori 59′; Rabiot 28′, Ronaldo 45′, Dybala 66′
Sassuolo had a great chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot after 14 minutes when Leonardo Bonucci brought down Giacomo Raspadori in the box.
Domenico Berardi stepped up but Gianluigi Buffon – possibly making one of his final appearances for the Bianconeri – became the oldest goalkeeper to save a penalty in Serie A history.
Juve soon made the hosts pay for that miss when Adrien Rabiot surged forward and found the bottom corner with a lovely strike in off the post for 1-0.
And just before half-time, Cristiano Ronaldo put the visitors 2-0 up with a left-footed finish for his 100th goal for the club.
Sassuolo got themselves back in the game early in the second half with a great goal, as Raspadori played a one-two with Manuel Locatelli before finding the bottom corner of Buffon’s net.
But Juve soon went 3-1 up, when Paulo Dybala beat goalkeeper Andrea Consigli with a cheeky chip for his 100th goal for the club.
That result leaves Andrea Pirlo’s side fifth in Serie A and just one point behind fourth-placed Napoli with two games remaining.
