An insight into the financial details of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo’s new contract has this weekend been forthcoming.

Uruguayan international Araújo is of course fresh off committing his long-term future to Barcelona.

Following weeks of speculation linking the 25-year-old with a winter departure from Catalunya’s capital, Araújo was instead convinced to stay put by boss Hansi Flick.

This was followed by a swift contract renewal for the defender, who extended his terms from their prior expiration date in 2026, all the way through 2031.

And yet, as part of his new deal, Araújo also kept at least some semblance of control when it comes to his future.

This comes amid confirmation that a pair of new release clauses were included in the terms of his extension.

As per a report from transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Araújo, whose previous deal featured a billion euro release clause, will be available for €65 million this coming summer.

In the winter of 2026, his purchase clause will then increase to €80 million.
