Blues midfielder taken off during 1-1 draw with the Gunners
Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has offered a positive injury update.
The Belgian international has started to establish himself in Enzo Maresca’s first team this season, a year after joining the club.
Lavia endured an injury-hit first season with the Blues following a £53million move from Southampton and mustered only 32 minutes of action due to a significant thigh issue.
Maresca, however, has brought former Manchester City youngster into the fold – largely in place of World Cup winning Enzo Fernandez. Lavia has started five of Chelsea’s Premier League games and now appears to be the first-choice partner for Moises Caicedo in place of the Argentine.
Still, concern would have been raised when Lavia was forced off during the closing stages of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Fernandez replaced Lavia at Stamford Bridge and duly provided the assist for Pedro Neto, though it remains to be seen if that will be enough to force the Argentina star back into the starting lineup.

Lavia is part of the Belgian squad called up for Nations League games against Italy and Israel this month and, speaking to RTL Info, suggested the knock he sustained against Arsenal was not particularly serious.
“I received a little blow, at the moment, we are testing to see if it is okay, but it should be fine, I think,” he said.
