Inter President Steven Zhang could have done the most important piece of business in his tenure to date by securing the return of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who suggest that the Nerazzurri President has made his biggest statement about how competitive he expects the team to be by bringing the striker back.

There has been some uncertainty about the status and identity of Inter given the significant departures that have been forced upon the club by financial circumstances, with Lukaku’s big money move to Chelsea last summer a symbol of this situation.

Therefore, in seizing the opportunity to bring the Belgian back, the club, and Zhang, have made clear that even though they are operating within financial constraints, they have belief that they can sit at the top table in European football.

Zhang’s approval of a deal for Lukaku was among the decisive factors in sealing an improbable agreement with Chelsea, and this could be one of his most significant acts at the club yet.
