Romelu Lukaku has revealed his delight at 'coming home', after he sealed his return to Inter on a season-long loan spell.

Lukaku only left I Nerazzurri to join the Blues in a blockbuster near-£100m transfer last summer and he endured a tricky 2021/22 season at Stamford Bridge.

Despite finishing as Chelsea's top scorer with 15 goals he irked the fanbase with a controversial interview where he expressed his love for Inter.

Now, Lukaku has finally got his wish and returned to San Siro, with the two clubs confirming an agreement on Wednesday.

"It's an amazing feeling. What we achieved here a year ago was fantastic. That goes for the team, the fans and also me personally," he said in an interview posted on Inter's YouTube channel.

"Inter has given me so much and I hope to do even better this time. It's now time to work hard as a squad and hopefully even better than before."

Inter president Steven Zhang was instrumental in bringing Lukaku back to the club on loan and the Belgian paid tribute to the 30-year-old in the interview.

"We spoke about so many things and how it seemed impossible for me to come back here, but we managed it and I'm grateful for the way he kept pushing and believing it was possible.

"We managed to do it in the end and I'm delighted to be back.

"It's like coming home. My family and I were so happy here thanks to the people, the fans and my team-mates. From the first day I arrived here, everyone helped me settle in.

"I kept my home here when I went to England so that means something."
