Inter manager Antonio Conte needs Romelu Lukaku to be at his best in the coming weeks following Alexis Sanchez’s injury, according to a report in today’s paper edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Lukaku returned early from international duty after just one of Belgium’s two games so he could train alone at Inter’s training ground in order to continue his recovery from his recent niggling injury, which has had a definite impact on his performances in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old Belgian, who joined the club in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United during the Summer transfer window, knows himself that he needs to get up to speed quickly to keep Inter on the coattails of Juventus in the league and in with a shout of progression in the Champions League.
Since his arrival, Lukaku has netted three goals in his first eight appearances in the Nerazzurri shirt, including a goal in his first Derby della Madonnina.
