Romelu Lukaku has said he is “grateful” to Inter Milan for engineering his return on loan to the club he left just a year ago.
The Belgium international moved to Chelsea last summer in a blockbuster deal worth almost ÂŁ100m.
But the striker’s second stint at Stamford Bridge turned sour in the wake of a interview with Sky Italia in December during which Lukaku admitted he was “not happy” with life under manager Thomas Tuchel.
It all culminated with the 29-year-old inking a loan deal with the Nerazzurri for the 2022/23 season.
Upon his arrival back at Inter, Lukaku spoke to club media about how the unlikely switch came about.
It has been bad business for Chelsea, but quite the coup by Inter to have their fan favourite back on board.
