The player has so far matched or bettered Ronaldo’s first season with the Nerazzurri – Second place in the league behind Juventus, a semi-final appearance in the Coppa Italia, better than the quarter-finals loss suffered by Ronaldo’s Inter and now potentially the Europa League, which was won by that Nerazzurri squad when it was still known as the UEFA Cup.

Lukaku’s has matched Diego Milito’s goal tally in the Treble winning season, the report continues, and a goal against Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow would see him stay on track to match Alan Shearer’s record of scoring in eight consecutive Europa League games.

The player is also keen to win league titles, having only won the Belgian league with Anderlecht in the 2009/10 season.
