Since the start of the season, Roma manager Jose Mourinho has been moaning about the lack of squad depth. A fresh injury to full-back Zeki Çelik means his worst nightmare has come alive.

According to what is reported by Sky Sport Italia, Roma right-back Zeki Çelik will be on the sideline for two months after picking up a knee injury in the Giallorossi’s 2-1 defeat to Real Betis in a UEFA Europa League encounter on Thursday evening.

In the fifth minute of the match, Çelik had to be withdrawn after a painful blow to his right knee, with Mourinho bringing Leonardo Spinazzola to replace the injured Turkish international.

The medical test, carried out on the player’s injury on Friday, revealed that the player had a lesion of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

The 25-year-old will immediately start conservative therapy to ramp up the recovery process. Nevertheless, he will miss the action for around two months.
