Salernitana, Roma’s next league opponent, suffered their third straight loss as they fell 2-1 to Genoa at home this afternoon.
The result keeps them bottom of the Serie A table with 12 points ahead of next Monday evening’s encounter, which takes place at 20.45 CET at the Stadio Arechi.
Salernitana undoubtedly be motivated to earn a result against the capital club after they fumbled an early lead against Alberto Gilardino’s side. Agustín Martegani quickly found the back of the net and put the hosts in the 2nd minute. However, their advantage was short lived as Genoa responded swiftly thru Mateo Retegui, who was set-up on the goal by Milan Badelj.
Genoa continued to cause problems for Salernitana and were eventually rewarded just before the hour mark. Il Grifone were awarded a penalty after VAR determined Salernitana defender Matteo Lovato handled the ball in his area. Albert Gudmundsson scored from the spot and sealed a narrow away victory for Genoa, their sixth of the season.
