Roma unveiled their new design for the long-awaited club-owned stadium in the Pietralata district of the Italian capital.

Yesterday, a meeting took place in the Campidoglio between the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, the vice-president of the Giallorossi club Ryan Friedkin and the CEO of the club, Lina Souloukou.

On the table is the situation of the new stadium of the Capitoline club with the inspections that continue to progress in the Pietralata district.

As reported in today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the overall cost of the new stadium is estimated at €1 billion, a jewel that by 2027, on the club’s centenary, will become a living masterpiece of Giallorossi support.

The facility was designed in particular to offer Giallorossi fans a Curva Sud with 10,000 seats, one of the largest in Europe, with a total capacity of 55,000 seats, extendable to 62,000.

Of these, 7,000 seats will be usable on request for special events and to host international sponsors.

Then, in the southern sector, dedicated to the Giallorossi public, the designer – the famous American studio Populous, known for stadiums such as Tottenham and Wembley among the over 1,300 already designed – positioned the heart of the facility.

The Roma museum, the fan shop and other areas dedicated to families will also be built in this 17,000 square meter commercial area, giving new life to a long-abandoned area.

“In September – explained the councilor for urban planning, Maurizio Veloccia – there will be the restart of technical investigations of an urban planning and transport nature. In the following 90 days, the technical-economic feasibility project will then be delivered, which must receive final approval from all the bodies.”

The schedule entails the start of the preparatory works for the construction of the stadium by the end of 2025. Delivery is scheduled for 2027, the year that will celebrate a century since the foundation of the club, which will thus be ready to enter a new era.
