Roma’s former General Secretary, Pantaleo Longo, rose to infamy earlier this season after he mistakenly added midfielder Amadou Diawara to the Under-22 portion of the Giallorossi’s official roster, which was submitted to the Lega Serie A.

Diawara, who was a starter in the match against Verona, turned 23 years-old in July and should have been added to the club’s full 25-man roster. Since Roma did not notice this error until after the match against the Venetian side, they were handed an automatic 0-3 loss for having fielded an ineligible player.

The embarrassing mistake led to Longo, who was responsible for submitting Roma’s official rosters to both the Lega Serie A and UEFA, resigning from his post not long thereafter.

In a rather stunning yet curious twist, Longo has accepted a new role and is officially ready to join a new club: Hellas Verona.

SportItalia reports that Longo, who previously worked at Lazio and Torino, will sign a three-year contract with the Veneto-based side, who were handed the three points against Roma thanks to his mistake.
