Another chapter in the long legal case over the Stadio della Roma in Pietralata has ended with a victory for the Municipality of Rome and, by extension, for the Giallorossi club.

In a difficult period for the team’s sporting results, at least in Trigoria there is room for a sigh of relief regarding the stadium issue.

As reported by Francesco M. Magliaro in Il Messaggero, the legal dispute saw the Campidoglio oppose two residents of the Pietralata area, who last year had requested two orders from the civil court to stop the preliminary works related to the construction of the new stadium.

The two judges had accepted the residents’ request, preventing the continuation of the geological surveys and archaeological excavations, which are essential for the realization of the project.

In response, the Campidoglio has initiated two actions: one with an appeal against the judges’ decisions and the other with the recovery procedure for the areas in question, issuing eviction orders.

These ordinances were challenged by the residents, but on August 7, at noon, the clearing operations were carried out, and the land was officially returned to the Municipality.

Subsequently, the Municipality transferred the areas to Roma, which was able to resume geological surveys on October 21, while the archaeological surveys were postponed due to the need to clear the area of plants and brushwood.

Although the legal process was ongoing, with an appeal still pending before the civil court, the ruling in favor of the Municipality arrived. In fact, on September 25, the judges revoked the order to protect possession issued in favor of the residents.

A decision that proved the Campidoglio right, as confirmed by the Municipality’s Urban Planning Councilor, Maurizio Veloccia, who declared: “Yesterday’s judgment, once again, proves Roma Capitale right as we had already predicted and as has already happened in other proceedings.

Our commitment is to support and sustain the preparation of the final project by Roma, which we obviously anxiously await in order to continue with the next step”.

However, an appeal by the Municipality against another order to protect possession remains open, with the hearing set for November 7.

The expectations are that the ruling on this appeal will arrive quickly, thanks to the recent legal victory. In the meantime, technical meetings continue: last week a meeting was held between Roma and the Ferrovie dello Stato to coordinate the construction of the cycle/pedestrian walkway between Via Livorno and the stadium area.

The work for the geological surveys is underway, as is the preparation of the final project.

The goal of the club and the municipal authorities is to present the project before the Christmas holidays, an certainly ambitious goal.
