Valencia and Real Sociedad ask Tottenham Hotspur for Bryan Gil transfer

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil is on the radar of both Real Sociedad and Valencia, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has struggled at Spurs since moving here from Sevilla last summer. He was allowed to leave on loan for the second half of last season at Los Che, where he provided one assist in 17 games across all competitions.

Gennaro Gattuso is looking to strengthen his team ahead of next season and it seems that Gil has left an impression on those at Mestalla. It remains to be seen if Sociedad’s approach will be taken seriously.

They’ve already signed Takefusa Kubo after the Japan international left Real Madrid, and also got in Brais Mendez from Celta Vigo. These two wingers would expect to be starters for Imanol Alguacil’s side.

What next for Gil?

Meanwhile, Samu Castillejo joined Valencia from AC Milan and Samuel Lino arrived on a loan transfer this summer but despite that, they have a real dearth of options out wide. Wingers Goncalo Guedes and Denis Cheryshev are amongst the players that have left the club this summer.

That makes Valencia, who finished three places below Sociedad in 9th last season, a more lucrative prospect for a young winger looking for playing time. Moreover, he has an idea about the club after spending half of last season there.

It remains to be seen what happens next in this saga. Gil is only getting started in his career and while Antonio Conte doesn’t trust him to be a regular starter right now, the Olympic Silver Medallist with Spain can hope to impress him once he heads out on loan.

It is unclear whether the two Spanish clubs want him on a temporary or a permanent basis. However, the player was only signed last year on a five-year contract and hence, it is safe to assume that a permanent transfer would either be unlikely or cost any potential suitor a decent sum in transfer fee.

Spurs saw Steven Bergwijn leave for Ajax earlier in this window but regardless, we possess a number of options in attack. Gil’s immediate departure, if it does happen, will have little to no impact on Conte’s first-team set-up as it stands.
