The January window is in full swing now and we’re back to the stage of getting bi-daily updates from Fabrizio Romano on various moves.

One that looks very likely to happen for Chelsea this month is the sale of Axel Disasi. That’s been rumoured for a while, and the recall of Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace which was confirmed yesterday is a strong indicator that Disasi is on his way.

But with just 2 weeks of the window left, it might not be as imminent as we thought. Juventus had been the most strongly linked team, but what we hear from Romano is that that deal isn’t happening.

He Tweeted that there were “no active contacts” between Chelsea and Juventus over the defender.

The Italian club have “different targets” while the France international “has attracted interest from other clubs in different countries.

However, Romano does assure readers that Disasi is “expected to leave Chelsea in January,” he just doesn’t specify where.

Disasi set to be a loss on the books for Chelsea, barring a miracle

Given there’s plenty of time left on his contract, Disasi could be loaned. If it gets desperate, Chelsea may well do that. But the apparent interest from other clubs should mean that’s not necessary. If this deal is going to happen this month, we will presumably start to hear some details coming out soon.

Disasi cost us a hefty €45m in August 2023, and that looks like it will be hard to recoup. If we get anything close to that, we will have done very well. Even teams who really fancy him will surely be looking to pay no more than €30m or so given he’s not been great in the Premier League.
