Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Olivier Giroud will be leaving AC Milan at the end of the season to start a new adventure in the United States.

Rumours have been rife for weeks now claiming that Giroud will not extend his contract with Milan and instead will depart on a free transfer for Los Angeles FC, who play in Major League Soccer.

Back on March 27, Romano posted the following update: “LAFC have reached verbal agreement to sign Olivier Giroud on a contract valid until December 2025! After interest revealed in October and formal bid earlier this week, there’s an initial agreement in place. Nothing signed yet but close to being done. Here we go, soon.”

Now, he has responded to that original tweet with a tick emoji, confirming that everything is done and that the Frenchman will bid farewell to the Rossoneri after the final game of the season next month, bringing an end to what will have been a three-year spell.

The 37-year-old therefore played his last Derby della Madonnina last night, and he looked a dejected figure after coming off the bench and failing to stop Inter get the three points that saw them crowned champions of Italy.
