Christian Kouamé has started in a great way, scoring two goals in two games for Genoa. However, the attacker could have ended up elsewhere this summer, as revealed by Calciomercarto.com’s Fabrizio Romano.
In fact, AC Milan’s new sporting director Ricky Massara had secured a deal for the Ivorian striker at Roma: an agreement in principle was reached with Genoa, as Romano claims, though the situation at the club was turned upside down.
The operation, however, was not replicated by the director when he joined the Rossoneri. Instead, they opted for another player: Ante Rebic, who was deemed more ready, Romano states. Then again, the name of Kouame has not been crossed off Massara’s wish list for the San Siro side.
He considers him to be a striker with great growth margins, perfect for the economic and future strategy of the new Milan, as long as he continues to impress. The season is still long, but the Rossoneri will be sure to keep their eyes on the player, Romano concludes.
