Transfer News: Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek to stay in Premier League despite Valencia interest

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is expected to stay in the Premier League despite interest from Valencia for a potential move. He could be in contention to move out of Old Trafford this month, having failed to garner enough game time.

The Spanish club asked for the services of Van de Beek in the January transfer window. Much to their disappointment, Crystal Palace are in the fray, which has raised the chances of him staying within England. The Eagles are engaged in talks with Man United to discuss the terms involved in a potential move.

Negotiations are ongoing at this point over a loan transfer, with Patrick Vieira keen on adding the Dutchman to his squad. Talks are progressing and salary has been discussed so that both parties can reach a common ground. With not many days left in this transfer window, it remains to be seen how this situation pans out before the window closes down.

Intriguing?

It is good that the 24-year-old could be playing in England even if he ends up moving elsewhere. He has not earned many minutes since joining us, so a move elsewhere within the league could provide him with ample opportunities to fully get adapted to the surroundings.

Moreover, this also opens up the possibility that the Red Devils ace could still have a future with us despite the lack of game time under Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Garnering minutes under his belt in the PL would be helpful if the club has plans for him next season.

Rangnick is only managing us on an interim basis, for now, so we could see someone else at the helm in the future. If the club appoints a new manager in the near future, there is a chance they could place their trust in van de Beek. Who knows, some time with the Eagles could help him regain the form he had shown at Ajax.

Our expectations were vastly different when the Manchester club had initially signed the Dutch star. If we never had plans for him, one could question the reason why he was signed in the first place. The minutes, or the lack of it, makes one wonder why the club decided to spend £35million in transfer fees for him to just sit on the bench.

Nevertheless, with the possible departures of players like Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba, the former Ajax man could gain more prominence when the squad is trimmed to a reasonable number. But only time will give us an answer whether that is the case or not.

Pogba’s recent spell on the sidelines hasn’t done anything to make the Netherlands international a regular in our starting XI. A loan move seems like the best way for him to stay match sharp right now. Lingard’s temporary spell at West Ham United did him a world of good, and hopefully, something similar is lined up for van de Beek in the near future.
