Just as we thought a quiet Tuesday was winding down, Fabrizio Romano has dropped a nice little exclusive bomb to get everyone interested again.
The transfer insider has just put on his Twitter page that AC Milan have made contact with Chelsea over a potential deal for attacker Christopher Nkunku, who has effectively been up for sale for 6 months now.
Christopher Nkunku linked with AC Milan move by Fabrizio Romano.
Romano ‘s Tweet claimed that Milan are in “active talks” over signing a new attacker since attempts to sign Conrad Harder from Sporting fell through.
It’s made very clear that this is a permanent deal rather than a loan. That suits Chelsea well – they want Nkunku sold so they can reinvest the money, not just a nebulous loan which likely puts them back in a similar situation a year from now, just with less bargaining power.
As always when dealing with Serie A clubs, one doesn’t want to get one’s hopes up knowing they will likely end up offering a €20m fee which is just never going to be accepted. But still… it’s something.
Unlike the deal for Nkunku to return to Leipzig, which never felt like it was really anything other than an emergency option for the attacker, this move feels like it could really tempt him.
Milan have fallen on hard times, but they still have plenty of prestige and would be a tempting option for any player who doesn’t quite have the top level interest they want from true Champions League contenders.
This one is a long way from complete – in fact it’s clearly in its early stages – but the fact there’s new options coming online gives us hope that Nkunku can be moved on.
