Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur unlikely to sign Manchester United’s James Garner

James Garner is a name Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with in recent days. The Manchester United midfielder did not play even a single second in both league games earlier this month under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has a shortage of quality midfielders and if Garner still struggles for minutes, then it means that the manager does not trust him yet. As a result, a number of teams have been linked with the 21-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Garner’s agents at Triple S – Kenneth Shepherd and Steven Beck – are working on a deal to seal an exit. Three to four PL clubs are apparently keen on him.

However, Spurs are an unlikely destination for him as things stand. Tottenham have signed Yves Bissouma this summer and Rodrigo Bentancur.

But we can still do with adding a youngster in Garner’s ilk to future-proof that area. Garner is a midfielder that Fabio Paratici has watched and has been impressed by, according to Football.London.

The Italian chief was on a scouting mission to assess on-loan Forest right-back Djed Spence. And while watching the English right-back, the Man United loanee apparently left a good impression on him.

However, signing him won’t be easy. United don’t have a lot of good, young midfielders that can develop into the next Paul Scholes or Michael Carrick. A loan move, at least for their fans, is what would make the most sense.

At Spurs, we aren’t in such a desperate need to sign him temporarily. It has been claimed that United could entertain offers near £14million, according to the Athletic but it remains to be seen if Daniel Levy and Paratici are impressed to an extent that they pay such an amount for him.
