Claudio Ranieri has noticed the holes in the Roma squad and, before taking over, he was informed that the ownership would be ready to address them, although not as lavishly as in the summer when they shelled out over €100M, La Gazzetta dello Sport informed.
The Giallorossi have had a problem at the right-back position for a few years. They are now down to just Zeki Celik. Ajax’s Devyne Rensch recently revealed that he was one step away from joining them in August. He’s on an expiring contract. The capital club could make another run at him. The coach has suggested Gabriele Zappa. Parma’s versatile defender Enrico Delprato is also on their radar.
Ranieri likes Eldor Shomurodov, whom he coached at Cagliari, but he hasn’t done much during his time with Roma. The brass will seek a better deputy for Artem Dovbyk. Giacomo Raspadori, who’d like to play more, has been offered to them by his entourage. Napoli might greenlight his transfer in this case, not toward Juventus, since they aren’t a Scudetto contender.
Beto is an easy target since the Friedkin family owns Everton. Instead, in the outbound direction, Nicola Zalewski and Mario Hermoso are candidates to depart. The former has a short-term deal, while the latter is being chased by Real Madrid.
They don’t have too many glaring needs other than the two aforementioned ones, as most of their problems come from underperforming and general chaos. It’d help if they could settle on a go-to scheme before the window opened, and then act accordingly.
