Atletico Madrid have made two attempts to sign Girona striker Artem Dovbyk this summer, and are once again facing on losing out on the Ukrainian. The latest is that they could be usurped by Serie A giants Roma.
While Dovbyk’s priority has always been to remain in Spain this summer, tensions rose in the latest round of talks between Atletico and Dovbyk’s agent. According to Matteo Moretto, Los Rojiblancos will need to get closer to their demands if they want to hold any hope of signing him.

They may have to do so swiftly too, as Moretto told Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that Roma are on the same wavelength as Dovbyk’s agent. Their plan is to present an offer that could be as high as €35m including variables in the coming hours.
That would be approaching Dovbyk’s €40m release clause, and it seems likely that Roma could reach an agreement with Girona. The Catalan side seem to have been open to negotiations with Atletico, and selling to a side in Serie A would be preferable than to another La Liga rival. It would leave Atletico scrambling for another forward with the season just weeks away.
