Roma fell 4-1 at the hands of Genoa to see José Mourinho’s side taste defeat for third time in their first six Serie A games.
Scorers: Guðmundsson 5′, Retegui 45′, Thorsby 74′, Messias 81′ ; Cristante 22′
Mourinho’s side were under the cosh from the off, and found themselves 1-0 already within five minutes when Albert Guðmundsson fired the hosts in front.
While Bryan Cristante pulled the capital club level, Roma were unable to build off the momentum and in fact collapsed from the leveller.
While Italian international Mateo Retegui fired Genoa back in front just before the break, goals from Morten Thorsby and Junior Messias late on drove the final nails into the Roma coffin.
With just one win from their opening six games, Roma find themselves in 16th in Serie A, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
