Valencia CF want to reinforce their squad summer but they must first sell before they can buy. Los Che are thus eyeing the sale of forward Gonçalo Guedes, as per Golsmedia.

Valencia have slapped a €35 million price tag on the Portuguese international. Their demands can also be met through add-ons and bonuses. Jorge Mendes has been entrusted with the job of finding a club for Guedes. Clubs in Spain such as Atlético Madrid and Sevilla are attentive to the player’s situation but have not made any official moves for him. From England, Wolves and Leeds United are considering Guedes as an option but nothing is advanced.

So far, Roma are the only club that have displayed their interest in signing the 25-year-old. Jose Mourinho’s side were interested in signing the striker last January but the talks were postponed to this summer. Having said that, Roma have launched a €20 million bid for Guedes but Valencia owner Peter Lim is unwilling to settle for anything less than €35 million. Guedes is still is a record-signing for Valencia. Valencia bought him for a club-record fee of €40 million in 2018.

Roma do not want to exceed €25 million but are open to involving players in the deal. Carles Pérez, Amadou Diawara and Gonzalo Villar are the players that have been mentioned. Out of the three, Valencia like Pérez the most but the idea is not to bring him in as part of a swap deal as Valencia want cash.

Guedes has accepted that he must leave Valencia this summer and that the club has to sell him to balance their books. A meeting took place on Wednesday between Jorge Mendes and Roma’s General director, Tiago Pinto, according to Tribuna Deportiva.

It remains to be seen the direction in which this potential deal could be headed.
