Serie A side Roma seemed close to signing Saba Goglichidze yesterday night but they have now sealed a move for Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.
Corriere dello Sport report that a move for the Danish defender was sealed in the lead up to the game against Napoli yesterday. The centre-back will arrive in Rome today to undergo a medical and sign a contract with Claudio Ranieri’s side.
He will join Roma on an initial loan deal with the option to buy on the basis of certain conditions that have to be met this season. It is a very similar deal to the one that took Angelino to Roma last summer and he had impressed in his loan stint before joining them permanently.
The feeling is that Goglichidze was not Roma’s first choice. A deal for him was agreed but then the player’s agent informed Roma that the defender will stay at Empoli till the end of the season. This forced the Roman giants to act quickly and sealed Nelsson as a new signing.
