RomaPress – Midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to return from his fractured tibia injury sometime within the next 4-6 weeks.

The Dutchman suffered the blow during the final portion of a late August training session which sidelined him for nearly five months.

Even though he’s made only one official appearance for the club, Roma want to keep Wijnaldum at the club beyond the expiration of his loan deal in June.

As a result, Giallorossi executive Tiago Pinto will hold talks with the midfielder’s parent club, Paris Saint-Germain, next month.

The ex-Liverpool man has settled well in the Italian capital since his summer move and is eager to extend his stay, eyeing a permanent switch to the club.

He’s determined to secure a transfer switch out of Paris following his disastrous 2021/22 season—so much so that he’s willing to reduce a significant portion of his €7 million (net) salary.

The capital club are paying €4.5 million of his wages this season and would be comfortable handing the 32 year-old a multi-year deal at this figure.

However, the club still has to understand PSG’s stance on the situation and if they’ll continue to request a transfer fee or if they’d be receptive to a contract recission.
