The Friedkin Group, who own Roma and have secured a deal to take over at Everton in the Premier League, have announced that they will provide investment for the redevelopment of the Toyota Stadium in Dallas.

The ground was opened 19 years ago in 2005 and cost around €74m ($80m) to build at the time. Calculations suggest that that figure is closer to €120m ($130m) in today’s terms, accounting for inflation.

The Toyota Stadium is not one of the venues selected to host matches for the 2026 World Cup, nor the 2025 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, both of which will be hosted or co-hosted in the United States.

There will be World cup action in the vicinity in 2026, although that will be at the significantly larger AT&T Stadium, which holds up to 80,000 seated spectators.
