According to Foot Mercato Roma and Lille are close to agreeing a deal for Algerian right-back Zeki Çelik in a deal costing the Serie A side €6.8m euros.

Earlier this month, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Roma’s €6m bid fell short of Lille’s asking price who were instead looking for €9m, although the Italian side were hoping to conclude the deal at around €7.5m.

Arriving at LOSC in 2018 almost total anonymity, Zeki Çelik has quickly established himself as one of the best right backs in Ligue 1. Part of Christophe Galtier’s championship winning side in 2020-21, the 25-year-old Turkish international has been one of the most consistent Lille players this season (32 matches – 2 goals).

The former Istanbulpor player is entering the last year of his contract, but will leave northern France in the next few hours. Çelik is almost certainly joining AS Roma. Discussions with the club coached by José Mourinho are in the final stages. Foot Mercato also reported that LOSC has already found a replacement for him in Akim Zedadka. The 27-year-old Algerian international right-back, who was at the end of his contract at Clermont, recently signed for Lille.
