A win was badly needed for Roma, after seeing their top-four hopes blunted by a two game losing streak, and they found just what they looking for, albeit in scrappy fashion.

After a dull first half, the game was flipped on its head when Sampdoria defender Jeison Murillo was sent off for his second yellow card of the night.

Within five minutes, Georginio Wijnaldum took advantage of Roma’s numerical superiority by heading home from close range to fire Roma into the lead just before the hour mark.

Late goals from Paulo Dybala and Stephan El Shaarawy would put the game to bed for the capital club, capping off an efficient performance at the Stadio Olimpico.

With the win, José Mourinho’s men collected a vital three points to move back into the top-four.
