Roma have been pursuing a move for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo for some time now but they have now failed in their move for the player.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that talks between Roma and Santos have now ended, with the Brazilian side chosing not to sell him this summer. Roma and the player’s entourage have tried very hard to make sure that the move takes place but it will now not happen this summer.

Santos’ decision is definitive and there is no chance they sell the striker this summer. But since the player is quite keen, the possibility of a January move is still very much alive. Essentially, talks may have been postponed for about a few months unless Roma decide to move onto other targets during this period of time, with Santos looking to stay consistent with their decision this summer.

Tammy Abraham has been ruled out for some months due to an ACL injury and a move for Duvan Zapata has also not progressed in recent days.
