Roma manager José Mourinho has been handed a four-match Uefa ban for his conduct following his side’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla last month.
Mourinho was unhappy with the performance of English referee Anthony Taylor in the match, which Sevilla won on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
The 60-year-old Portuguese subsequently confronted Taylor in the car park afterwards with a foul-mouthed tirade which was caught on camera.
Uefa opened disciplinary proceedings against Mourinho on 2 June, and it Wednesday it was announced it that he will serve a four-match ban, meaning Roma will be without their manager for the first four matches of the Europa League group stage next season.
Taylor and his family were also subjected to abuse from supporters at Budapest airport as they travelled home with the final, with referees body PGMOL condemning the behaviour in a statement which read: “We are appalled at the unjustified and abhorrent abuse directed at Anthony and his family as he tries to make his way home from refereeing the Uefa Europa League final.”
