Former Roma defender and executive Sebino Nela was one of the numerous retired professionals to weigh in on Roma’s rocky start to the season following the last three defeats with Udinese, Ludogorets and Atalanta.

Despite these losses, Nela did not sound too discouraged in a recent interview with Tuttomercatoweb. “Udinese played excellent football last year too, but it seems it’s become a problem for everyone to play against Sottil’s team.”

“As for the match against Atalanta: the opponents were more concrete, they snatched three points from the Olimpico and perhaps they didn’t deserve them all. Roma played really well in the second half. We are only on the seventh matchday, there is time.”

“I think Mourinho’s team can still do well and aim for great things this year,” Nela added.

On Abraham, Nela remarked, “He had a difficult slump last year too, but the striker needs to be helped and the team needs to do something more for him. The player has had a few opportunities, but his teammates should help him.”
