The game between Roma and Lecce on Sunday evening witnessed Nicolò Zaniolo getting subbed off the pitch at halftime.
As confirmed by Roma manager Jose Mourinho in the post-match press conference, Zaniolo took a heavy blow to his head in the first half of the Serie A encounter against Lecce.
However, a report from Forzaroma.info confirms that the precautionary tests, carried out on Zaniolo after the match, showcased no worrying signs. The player did not encounter any problems or consequences either.
It was initially expected that subbing him off was a technical decision from Mourinho’s end despite the Italy international concluding a satisfactory first forty-five minutes of the match. But Mourinho did not want to take chances with the knock.
Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala came off worse than Zaniolo, with the Argentinian now expected to miss the World Cup due to the respective injury. Several reports claim that La Joya could make his return to action in 2023. Roma next travel to Spain to lock horns with Real Betis in a UEFA Europa League group-stage match on Thursday.
