Roma are expecting a fine of around 4 million from UEFA.
UEFA will meet on Friday in Nyon to examine the positions of European clubs subject to Financial Fair Play controls, and among them is Roma, which closed the month of June with a series of operations aimed at falling within the imposed parameters.
The club has in fact completed four strategic sales: Dahl, Le Fée, Zalewski and Abraham.
The Englishman has officially left the capital: the English striker, yesterday, landed in Istanbul to begin his new adventure. The agreement includes a €17 million operation, between fixed part and bonuses. An important sale for Roma, very useful for the purposes of rebalancing the accounts.
According to La Repubblica Roma’s optimism is cautious but real: Roma expect a limited financial penalty, equal to around €4 million, but there should not be more severe measures such as the exclusion from the UEFA list for European competitions.
The official communication from the European body is expected between Friday and Saturday.
The club has worked carefully over the last month to close some key exits in good time.
The club’s line has been clear: sell to rebalance, without compromising the competitiveness of the squad, in view of the new season under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Abraham operation, in particular, was decisive in lightening the wage bill and generating liquidity useful for avoiding heavier sanctions.
It now remains to be seen whether UEFA will confirm the soft line or whether it will decide to apply additional measures. In any case, Roma appears confident, strong in an improved balance sheet and a well-managed outgoing market in the most critical period for the constraints of Financial Fair Play.
