Roma head coach Jose Mourinho knows that he will have to find solutions to the important absences in his squad ahead of the Giallorossi’s Serie A clash with Inter over the weekend.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the Giallorossi’s 1-0 loss to Bologna in Serie A, the Portuguese tactician emphasized that the injuries and suspensions will prompt a serious rethink for him ahead of Saturday’s match.

Inter are dealing with their own injury woes, particularly in the defensive areas of the pitch where the likes of Matteo Darmian, Andrea Ranocchia, Aleksandar Kolarov, and Alessandro Bastoni are all either a doubt or virtually certain to miss the match at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, with the likes of Lorenzo Pellegrini out injured, Bryan Cristante having tested positive for COVID-19, and now Tammy Abraham having picked up a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, the Giallorossi will feel the losses from their squad particularly acutely.

“For us it is important,” he said of the absences, “because on Saturday we already have another match and I will have to invent a team to play and to compete for a positive result. ”
