With Kevin Danso failing his medical, Roma are instead using those funds to buy midfielder Manu Koné from Borussia Monchengladbach, who had also been a Milan target.
According to Footmercato and Sportitalia, they have already agreed personal terms with the midfielder who participated in the 2024 Olympics for France and is called up for the Nations League.
It will be a contract to June 2029, now they are working on finalising the transfer fee with Borussia Monchengladbach.
Koné is expected to cost circa €23m, which is the same figure that they were going to invest in purchasing Danso from RC Lens.
The Giallorossi were forced to transform their strategy late last night when it emerged that Danso had failed the institutional medical.
This is not the one performed by the club, but by the Italian authorities, without which a player is not allowed to compete in professional sport.
When someone fails this test, it tends to be related to a cardiac irregularity or some other area of concern that requires further investigation, so with the transfer deadline looming today, they had no time to change tack.
